In an avenue off an avenue, to the North-West of Hull city centre, sits a lonely looking venue. At this time of year, heavy rain falls onto the one, insignificant sign that separates it from the surrounding terraced houses.
To the casual visitor The New Adelphi Club might not look all too welcoming, but when you know its history, its charm shines through the dishevelled exterior and the building glows with excitement, importance and that one word that can be overheard in Hull more than any other right now; culture.
