PAINTING is a Berlin-based trio creating brilliantly strange music that sits somewhere between Avant Pop, Synth Kraut, and Prog Punk. Techno beats rub shoulders with psychedelic free-jazz interludes, art-pop with a wave foundation is grounded by lively call-and-response vocals. With layers of synthesizers, propulsive drums, and angular melodies, their sound is both danceable and delightfully unpredictable.

Following their acclaimed debut Painting Is Dead (Antime, 2022), the band released their second album Snapshot of Pure Attention in 2025 on Lost Map (Isle of Eigg/Edinburgh) and Sinnbus (Berlin). The album has been praised by Rolling Stone, Musikexpress, and Iggy Pop himself.

Known for their intense and captivating live performances, PAINTING has built a strong reputation across Europe’s independent music scenes. Renowned music journalist Jens Balzer hailed their record release show at Berlin’s Berghain Kantine as “Gig of the year”.
