Three pieces. One hell of a noise. Born in Cornwall, sharpened in Kent, LiVES are the kind of band that rock needs — a visceral, white-knuckle collision of post-punk fury and hard rock precision that doesn’t ask for your attention, it demands it. Their critically acclaimed debut album Let Them Eat Cake, produced by the legendary John Cornfield (Oasis, Muse, Supergrass), arrived like a fist through a wall. Fast, aggressive and socio-politically charged, the songs cut as deep as the riffs — unflinching social commentary delivered with the precision of modern poetry, channelling disillusionment with contemporary society into anthems that feel both furious and necessary.
Their track Just Can’t Get Enough found a wider audience via its placement on the hit Netflix series Lucifer, but LiVES have always been a live proposition first — a band that earns its stripes on stage; a sold-out European headline tour in 2025, plus support slots alongside The Buzzcocks, Span and The Wildhearts, confirmed what anyone who’s seen them already knew: this band is built for rooms that sweat. With playlist support from BBC 6 Music, Radio X and BBC Introducing already in the bag, LiVES return with their heaviest, darkest work to date. New album Ghosts lands on Sister 9 Records on 29th January 2027, recorded across three studios — Tywardreath Studios in Cornwall, Albion Rooms in Margate and Anglet Studios in France — and produced by the legendary John Cornfield once again.
Where Let Them Eat Cake turned its anger outward, Ghosts turns it inward too. Bigger riffs, bigger drums and a rawer emotional core see the band confronting death, addiction and a fractured sense of self, alongside the wider disillusionment fans know them for. Lead singles ‘Burn‘ — a snarling attack on the international arms trade — and ‘Not Punk‘ — a sardonic swipe at fake rebellion — have already given a taste of what’s to come.
The anger hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just been sharpened.
