Ruth Theodore and her exciting band are back on the road following a successful national tour back in April and this time it’s to celebrate the release of ‘Full Metal Jacket’ and ‘Barbed Wire Fence’ – Two brand new singles from her eagerly anticipated fifth studio album and fruits of her further collaborations with Grammy and Tony award winning bassist/producer Todd Sickafoose and Swiss American percussion virtuoso Mathias Kunzli, recorded in upstate New York by Eli Crews (Tune Yards). It’s impossible to ignore the quality of this innovative music.
Especially for this tour Theodore has assembled another exciting line-up of talented musicians. Notably amongst them is award winning zimbabwean bassist Edith Weutonga and scottish/spanish singer-songwriter Harry Bird.
Heralded in the music press as “one of the most innovative, original, exciting – and underrated – artists in the UK” – Ruth creates and performs with a unique and instantly recognizable style that effortlessly pushes the boundaries of gender and genre, and defies the confines of the conventional ‘singer-songwriter’ archetype.
This new stage show is geared around bringing more of Ruth’s incredible new music into the limelight and together with gripping stories from her life, she and her percussive line-up of drums, bass, keys, wood-wind, strings and backing vocals, will take you on an emotional, political and very playful journey. The revolution starts here!
The live show will include performances of the two new singles as well as top tracks People People, Thompson, You Can’t Help Who You Love and many more.
An extended run of ‘Cherry Picker’ the latest compilation vinyl will be on sale at the shows as well as a limited edition run of ‘People People’ T-shirts which are only available at shows. Ruth will be happy to sign any merch at the end of the night.
