Mayshe Mayshe + Sarah Heneghan + Cutty
+ Sarah Heneghan
Thursday 12th October
The New Adelphi Club
Yorkshire based Mayshe-Mayshe blends dreamy art-pop and electronica with rich storytelling, skittering percussion and infectious melodies. Her deceptively simple songwriting – at once universal and deeply personal – incorporates choral vocals, vintage synths and the occasional hairdryer. Mayshe-Mayshe’s live performance is a dynamic live-looping set of soft, spare rhythms and intimate vocal harmonies that build into deep oceans of sound.
‘A unique and inventive talent’ – Louder Than War
‘Perfect pop dichotomy’ – God is in the TV Zine
‘Immaculately minimal DIY gems’ – Narc Magazine
‘A one-woman pop machine’ – Under The Radar
“Yorkshire’s dreamy electro-pop alchemist” – Every Day Is A Rhythm
‘Incredibly catchy electro-pop bangers’ – Louder Than War
Brought to you by Sheffield-based drummer Sarah Heneghan, Power Out is a performative mish-mash of live drums, electronics, and lights to create a whirling atmosphere of beats; some dancey, others immersive. The set brings a narrative of pumping dance music contrasted with improvised live drumming. This is coupled with bespoke lighting to create a show that blows apart expectations of what solo drumming can be, and what jazz-fusion performances can show you.
Cutty is the project of Hull’s very own Kev La Kat and Amy Precious, residents of one of The Adelphi’s in-house studios. Expect beats, bloops and beat-boxing. Music to wiggle your hips, eyebrows and handbags to.
