Huddersfield garage rock stalwarts Knuckle will release their second album, ‘Life’s a Bench, Then They Put Your Name On It’ via beloved Wakefield DIY label Philophobia Music on 17th February 2023. Their first new music since the band’s searing 2019 debut, ‘Life Is Hard When You’re Soft Inside’, this sophomore release is a characteristically raucous affair. At times furious, gentle and hilarious ‘Life’s a Bench…’ is a complex documentation of their own lives and those around them in their home town Huddersfield.

Ben Wallbanks, Knuckle:
“’Life’s a Bench…’ is the second instalment of a trilogy of albums about trying to navigate life whilst dealing with mental health issues, addiction, love, loss, mindless violence and trying to keep your head above the water when times are hard. There are songs about losing family members, the hardship of seeing loved ones battle their demons as well as battling your own demons on a daily basis. It is intended to be self reflective and to be an insight into a scrambled mind trying to make sense of the world.

Despite the dark themes, there are songs on the album about loving being in a band and the adventures it takes you on, and the comradery that comes with it, especially when throwing up after a ride on the waltzers. There’s also a nod to the joys of getting older, as a working class band.”

“a wave of intense garage rock inspired by everyday experiences” – Upset
“they sound like a bar fight between The Black Keys, Queens Of The Stone Age and Idles” – Gigwise
“Huddersfield may not have many hugely recognisable bands currently, but this album will surely change that.” – Punktastic
“Vitriolic punk rock that’s vital and relevant to what’s going on today. Knuckle are one of the most accomplished bands on the circuit right now.” – Under the Radar
“Sheer visceral attitude” – The Arts Desk

+ Hungry (Manchester)
Hungry, an Indie/Rock band in the vein of Sports Team from Manchester.
Hungry play a chaotic bluesy punk fusion with raw energy, noisy riffs and chunky bass-lines. They’ve garnered a reputation for energetic live sets around England described as “alternately funky and blazing”, and “eccentric, neurotic and driving, backed by tight-as-you-like clipped rhythms”, and have created their recent singles to match. The last year has been jam-packed, supporting touring bands, recording new singles and playing festivals in a few different regions.

Over the last year, things have been stepping up for the band. Hungry have released three new singles, they were finalists in the BurySound Competition 2022, performing at the 500-Cap Apex, they’ve been featured as BBC Introducing’s track of the week and WAM playlisting, headlined their first Manchester show and their first festival slots over the summer, looking to make 2023 bigger and better.
