4 Immigration Concerns — And the Truth Behind Them
Many people express their concerns about immigration as if they’re hard facts. But more often than not, these statements are based on myths, misinformation, or media-fuelled fear.

Should you hear any of the following quotes, you’ll now be ready to respond — with clarity, compassion, and truth:

Concern 1: “Immigrants take our jobs.”

Truth: They fill essential roles others won’t or can’t. NHS, care work, farming, hospitality — all depend on migrant labour. Many also create jobs by starting businesses.

Concern 2: “The system is overwhelmed.”

Truth: The system is overwhelmed by backlogs, not people. The real issue? Poor management and lack of safe routes, not too many asylum seekers.

Concern 3: “They don’t integrate.”

Truth: Immigrants do integrate — they work, study, volunteer, and contribute. But integration needs support, not suspicion. Language classes, housing, and fairness matter.

Concern 4: “They drain public services.”
Truth: Migrants contribute more in taxes than they use over their lifetimes. The real strain on services? Underfunding, not immigration.

Immigration isn’t the problem. Misinformation is. It’s vital to keep sharing factual information about refugees and asylum seekers in the UK because misinformation fuels fear, prejudice, and harmful policies. When the public is misled, it becomes easier to justify cruelty—such as detaining people indefinitely or deporting them to unsafe countries. Sharing the truth helps build empathy, challenge dangerous myths, and ensure that the UK remains a place that upholds human rights, dignity, and justice for those fleeing war and persecution.

Facts don’t just inform—they protect lives.
