FLAMINGODS fuse together Asian polyphonic textures, African rhythms, and the occasional pop sensibility into something of a freak-folk blush.
With new album ‘Majesty’, the five-piece have taken their sound in a new direction with a rich and multi-layered album brimming with diverse influences that reflect their multi-cultural backgrounds. The shimmering 10-track album crosses blissful psychedelia with a rich spectrum of the band’s sonic inspirations.
“Flamingods’ radical sound opens up the thrillingly unknown” Dazed
“One of my favourite things I’ve heard this year” Tom Ravenscroft, BBC 6Music
“loose, joyful psychedelia” Loud & Quiet
“A little bit of Animal Collective, a little bit of Soundway’s back catalogue, a little bit of electronic, tropical, Vampire Weekendisms. I love this album.” Gilles Peterson
“Majesty is refreshingly unlike any album to come out of the capital… will transport you to a sort of dreamscape” Record Collector
“Prepare to be bombarded by bliss.” The Guardian

PEARLS CAB RIDE, what sort of a name is that?????
After 25 years, no-one around these parts really asks that question anymore. These three words are more than a name. Pearls Cab Ride is a group of like-minded players, who carry the torch for everything, that is still good in LIVE music.
The band’s roots took hold in the Acid Jazz scene of the early 1990’s, (yes, such a musical movement did make it to the edges of the East Yorkshire coast!). When founder member Lyn Acton, and original guitarist Karl Arthur bonded over their love of all things soulful and funky, along came Peter Robinson, Simon Crook and Jason Fawcett, who remain faithful to the cause today, not to mention many other notable players who have passed through the ranks.
The band’s musical roots hold fast today, however they are not a retro outfit as cuts contained on this album such as ‘Sunrise’ testify. As some lucky people already know, the true magic of Pearls Cab Ride is served up by the trunk load in their sweat soaked live performances.
Relative newcomers to the band John Shepherd, Kieren Iannidinardi and Patrick Henderson-Tucker complete the current line up and create a groove as deep as the Mariana Trench. These people are in the pocket, and very soon you will be too!
