A one off Smiths Disco at The Adelphi with this charming man Chris Von Trapp.
There will be all the classics, there will be dancing, there will be gladioli and a few surprises.
Big sounds through the 2K rig, drinks promotions all night, free Smiths button badges and projected visuals.

Friends… following the passing of Jacko we’re having a couple of Adelphi get-togethers each year. One in the summer months and one at Christmas. A chance to catch up with all the friends you have made through The Adelphi over the years. Please join us.

“In the 1980s, fans of The Smiths were a tight-knit community of cultural outsiders. Often bookish, working-class, or sexually marginalised, they were drawn together by Morrissey’s poetic vulnerability and Johnny Marr’s jangly, chiming guitar. For these teenagers and young adults, The Smiths offered a defiant anthem for loneliness and alienation.

The Cult of the Outsider
In the UK under Margaret Thatcher, mainstream pop was dominated by high-gloss synth-pop and upbeat new wave. Fans of The Smiths stood in stark contrast to this. They were viewed by wider society as melancholy, overly sensitive, or deliberately contrary. Many fans—especially male followers who dared to embrace a softer, bookish aesthetic—faced bullying or homophobic taunts, as Morrissey’s lyrics and gender-fluid stage presence (such as wearing hearing aids, carrying gladioli, and referencing queer cinema) heavily challenged traditional 80s masculinity.”
