This short film documents the sights and sounds of the Friday evening gig that was part of the HULL ADELPHI’S 30th Anniversary celebrations. KAISER CHIEFS were the headline band and this film contains live footage from their ‘sold out’ performance and interviews with the band within which they discuss the cultural importance of independent music venues such as Paul Jackson’s famous Adelphi Club. KAISER CHIEFS helped raise a substantial sum of money for the Adelphi and the income raised by their appearance helped to fix the Adelphi roof and enabled the payment of a few outstanding Adelphi bills. Kaiser Chiefs did not receive any payment for their appearance and did not even collect their travel expenses. This incredible financial gesture by the band was, and is, appreciated by all at the Adelphi. This was a great night of music and was a highlight of the 30th Anniversary week.THANK YOU KAISER CHIEFS.
This film was shown at the Adelphi in January 2015 as part of Independent Venue Week.
